Gardaí in Dublin confirmed that a monkey has been taken into the care of DSPCA after it was found locked inside a cage during a search operation targeting organised crime.
It is believed that the monkey was found after armed officers carried out a search on the Rathoath Road earlier today.
During the search Garda officers also seized two machine guns, a Magnum handgun, along with 200 rounds of ammunition.
The operation which was carried out by officers from Finglas and Blanchardstown was carried out after Gardai said they have been targeting organised crime in Finglas for some time.
It also believed that a pressing machine and €100,000 worth of cocaine was seized during the operation.
Gardaí say two men aged in their 30s and 40s along with a woman aged in her 30s were arrested at the scene.
