Sadly it’s well known that many homeless people miss vital appointments for hospitals, housing or legal issues simply because they have no address to receive correspondence.
Today a new initiative has been launched by An Post in an effort to combat that.
The service is called Address Point and will be similar to a Post Office Box service. However there are subtle differences as it will be completely free of charge and of stigma.
It’s understood that 200 Post Offices around the country will initially roll it out with more to follow.
The addresses will look like a regular address with no mention whatsoever of a Post Office in the address lines.
The move has been welcomed by homeless campaigners who say it will aid the 10,000+ homeless people in Ireland.
