Gardai intercept criminal gang who were using RIP.ie to find empty houses

A gang of thieves from South Dublin used the obituary website RIP.ie to plan raids on the empty houses of the recently deceased.

The gang reportedly attempted to attack a home while relatives were at the funeral and outside the home.

The Irish Independent reports that the gang was detained by gardai in who found RIP.ie details of a deceased person’s home address and funeral details leading them to their destination while the house was empty.

The gang of four convicted criminals were arrested in Leopardstown before they could commit the robbery. The gang included a wanted father and son who were high-profile targets for police officers who specialize in robberies.

According to the Independent, all the men were released after being intercepted.

Members of the gang, believed to have ties to Blackrock, Bray, Crumlin and Tallaght, were arrested earlier this year in connection with a jewelery theft in South Dublin.
