Gardai are this morning investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic discovery of a 6-year-old boy dead in a stream in the town of Ballina, Co. Mayo.
It is understood that the boy had been reported missing a short time before the body was discovered in shallow water near the River Moy on Sunday afternoon.
The boy received medical treatment by emergency services and was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
