Gardai in Waterford are investigating the recent theft of €5k off an elderly lady.
Gardai suspect that an Eastern European gang operating in the south of the country is responsible. Working in pairs, one gang member distracts the target while the other one carries out the robbery. The gang mostly targets elderly people.
It is understood that the money taken was meant to pay for the funeral of the lady’s older brother, who had recently passed away.
