A serious assault on a water meter installation crew took place while they worked in a housing estate in Co. Louth on Monday evening.
An incendiary device was reportedly thrown at a van owned by Coffey Northumbrian, a sub-contracting firm. The petrol bomb hit the roof of the vehicle and set it on fire. A worker for the firm, a man in his 50s, narrowly escaped serious injury.
This serious incident happened at around 4pm at Ballsgrove in Drogheda, while an anti-water charge protest was taking place.
Gardai are investigatinginvestigating.
