Gardai investigating suspected acid attack in Waterford which has left one teenager with a serious eye injury




Gardaí in Waterford have launched an investigation after three teenagers were attacked with acid last week.

According to WLRFM, the investigation comes after the three teenagers one of whom is an Ireland under 17s soccer player were attacked in Earlscourt, housing estate on the Dunmore Road in Waterford, on Thursday night at approximately 11pm.

Gardaí say all three victims were taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment and it is believed that one of the boy’s is still receiving treatment after he sustained a serious eye injury that has left doctors trying to save his sight.

Officers investigating the case say they believe that an acid substance was thrown at the boys which burnt through their clothes and came into contact with their skin.

They added that a number of house to house inquires have taken place and investigation is currently ongoing.
