A suspicious approach to a child took place yesterday at an Applegreen service station on the M1 southbound, near Castlebellingham, in Co. Louth.
A mother was there with her two year old daughter, who was playing in the play area of the station.
She noticed two men acting suspiciously, allegedly watching the child. When one of them approached the child, the mother ran over and the men quickly got away.
She then called her husband, who spoke to the service station’s manager and was told that CCTV footage would be passed onto the Gardai.
A garda sergeant is reportedly overseeing the investigation into the event.
Gardai have issued a reminder for all parents to always be vigilant with their children.
