Gardaí issue warning as three learner drivers have their vehicles seized under new laws




Gardaí have issued yet another warning to unaccompanied learner drivers as they seized three vehicles on Sunday morning.

In a post on Twitter, Garda traffic revealed that the three vehicles were seized during a routine Intoxicant Testing Checkpoint in Dublin 15.

They also revealed that they arrested a truck driver after he failed a breath test.

In the Tweet Gardaí said:  “DMR Roads Policing carried out Mandatory Intoxicant Testing checkpoint in Dublin 15 Sunday midday.

“Truck driver arrested for failing roadside breath test and three vehicles seized from unaccompanied learner drivers.”

The new penalties can see an unaccompanied learner drivers getting a €1000 fine, or face up to six months in prison.

Drivers or owners can also have have their car seized by Gardaí.
