Gardai launch investigation after gang of thugs attack yet another man near Dublin’s top tourist destination

It’s a shocking moment when a man was brutally attacked by a mob of young people – next to one of Dublin’s most popular tourist destinations, reports The Mirror.

Footage obtained by the Irish Mirror shows a dozen teenagers involved in the attack on a man just meters from the entrance to the Guinness Storehouse on Monday night.

The attack, which was witnessed by several people, including at least one shocked tourist, took place on Market Street South at 6pm – and is now being investigated by Gardaí.

In the video, a mob of youths chased the man towards the intersection of Market Street South and Grand Canal Place.

One of the participants hit him with an iron rod – and the victim fell to the ground. Other members of the crowd then joined in the attack – using more rods and what appeared to be a baseball bat.

The gang fled along the Gran Canal Place as people rushed to the victim’s aid.

A foreign tourist watches the aftermath of the attack and overhears him say, “Bit of a rough neighbourhood, this.”

It is known that the man was not seriously injured. Gardaí confirmed last night that officers from Kevin Street Garda Station were investigating the attack – and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman told The Mirror: “Gardaí are investigating a public order incident involving a large number of youths that occurred shortly before 6pm on Monday 14th August 2023 on Market Street South in Dublin 8. An investigation at Kevin Street Garda station is continuing. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward,” reports The Mirror.

“Anyone with any information that can assist Gardaí with this investigation are asked to contact Kevin Street Garda station on 01 6669400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station,” reports The Mirror.
