Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a disturbing carjacking that occurred earlier this week in County Dublin, reports The Mirror.

The incident took place at around 2.45pm on Monday, August 25, when authorities received reports of suspicious activity on Railway Street in Balbriggan.

According to reports, a man approached a stationary white Honda Fit, where a young male passenger was waiting inside while the driver was away. The man then threatened the boy, reports The Mirror.

The boy was forcibly removed from the car, after which the suspect took the wheel and fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

The car was later found abandoned near Donore, heading in the direction of Tubberfinn and Sheephouse townlands, reports The Mirror.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

Gardai are now requesting assistance from the public to help with their investigation, reports The Mirror.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: “Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward, especially those who were in the vicinity of Donore between 3:00pm and 5:30pm on 25th of August.

“Any person who was travelling on the L16012 Donore to Oldbridge Road in County Meath and saw a ‘161 D’ white Honda Fit is asked to contact investigating Gardaí,” reports The Mirror.
