BREAKING: Fashion legend Giorgio Armani has passed away aged 91

The fashion world mourns the loss of legendary Italian designer Giorgio Armani, who passed away peacefully at the age of 91, the Armani Group announced today. Known as “Re Giorgio” or “King Giorgio,” Armani died surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a monumental legacy that redefined modern fashion.

Born on July 11, 1934, in Piacenza, Italy, Armani transformed the industry with his signature relaxed yet luxurious tailoring. He founded Giorgio Armani S.p.A. in 1975 with his late partner Sergio Galeotti, building a global empire that includes fashion, cosmetics, hotels, and more, with annual revenues exceeding €2.3 billion ($2.7 billion). His designs, celebrated for their understated elegance, dressed Hollywood stars and reshaped red-carpet style, notably through films like *American Gigolo* (1980).

Armani’s health had been declining, and he missed his runway show at Milan Men’s Fashion Week in June 2025, a first in his career. The Armani Group stated, “We feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication. We commit to carrying his company forward in his memory.” A public funeral chamber will be held in Milan on September 6-7, followed by a private ceremony.

Italian Prime Minister Antonio Tajani paid tribute on X, calling Armani “a timeless talent and ambassador of Made in Italy.” His death marks the end of an era for a designer who embodied Italian style and innovation.
