A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred this evening in Shercock, County Cavan, resulting in one death. A child sustained serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to hospital.
The collision took place on the R162 road near Lough Silan and Corclare. Gardaà along with emergency responders, including fire crews from Kingscourt and Bailieborough plus the national ambulance service, attended the scene.
The road is expected to stay closed through the night, with forensic collision investigators due to examine the site tomorrow. Local diversions are operating in the meantime.
