Gardai have launched an investigation following a burglary in which an elderly man was seriously injured.
The incident happened in Adrass Lower, Celbridge, Co. Kildare, on Tuesday evening.
It is understood that a 72-year-old man disturbed a group of men who were breaking into his shed. The men proceeded to assault the homeowner, who was left with serious injuries.
A teenager was arrested later in connection with this incident.
