Late last night Gardai upgraded the death of a Limerick pensioner to murder.
They have since launched a major murder investigation into the death of the 78-year-old woman.
The victim has been named locally as Rose Hanrahan. Her body was found in a downstairs room in her house, sited on the Thomondgate area of Limerick, in early Friday afternoon.
A post mortem examination determined that foul play was involved in Ms. Hanrahan’s death.
