A major garda investigation is underway in Cork after the tragic death of a little 2-yr-old baby girl in city on Friday.
Although the case was initially being treated as suspicious, Gardai have since confirmed that their investigation has been upgraded to a murder investigation.
The investigation comes after the toddler died at Cork University Hospital following an incident at an apartment in Elderwood, on the Boreenmanna Road near Balintemple, in the early hours of Friday morning.
Gardaí say they are following a number of lines inquiries and both scenes at the apartment building remain cordoned off.
