**GardaĆ Issue Warning Against Dangerous Home Invader Prank Trend**

The Garda SƭochƔna has issued an urgent warning to the public about a dangerous prank trend involving fake home invader scenarios, following reports of incidents causing distress and potential harm. The Garda Traffic account on X recently highlighted the issue, urging people to refrain from participating in or sharing these pranks, which often involve staging alarming scenes to trick residents into believing their homes are being targeted.

These pranks, sometimes shared on social media for attention, have led to panic, emergency calls, and strained Garda resources. In some cases, individuals have mistaken pranks for real threats, risking confrontations or injuries. GardaĆ emphasized that such actions could lead to criminal charges, including public order offenses, if they cause fear or disruption.

ā€œWe urge the public to act responsibly and consider the consequences of these pranks,ā€ a Garda spokesperson said. ā€œThey can cause genuine distress and divert resources from real emergencies.ā€

The public is encouraged to report suspicious activity to GardaĆ immediately and avoid engaging in or promoting such pranks. GardaĆ are monitoring social media platforms to identify perpetrators and prevent further incidents.
