Gardai proudly announce they’ve issued almost 8,000 fines for regulation breaches

Gardai have announced that up until Saturday they’ve issued a total of 7,950 fines to people who’ve breached covid regulations.

Even though they were reportedly phoned a total of 12 times on Friday by concerned citizens over up to 100 people attending a mosque in Dublin 8, they failed to send a unit to investigate.

Some 6,297 €100 fines were issued for non-essential travel, with 263 €500 fines for non-essential journeys to ports and airports, RTE figures show.

Close to 200 fines for €500 were issued to people for organising house parties, with 747 €150 fines issued to people attending such parties.

A further 155 fines have been issued to people for not wearing face coverings, at a cost of €80 each.

There has been uproar on social media as a result of Friday’s failing to investigate.
