Gardai say migrant who randomly stabbed Irish man at Dublin Airport had ‘strange behaviour’ days beforehand

Gardaí are investigating reports that a man arrested in connection with a stabbing attack at Dublin Airport showed signs of “strange behaviour” in the days leading up to the incident, reports The Mirror.

He remains in garda custody and is being questioned after he stabbed another man seven times in the head and stomach as he stood outside Terminal 1 at 11.30am on Sunday.

The airport authorities reached the spot within two minutes. A suspect, approximately 50 years old, was arrested at the scene.

Investigators investigating the incident are working to verify information received that the suspect has been exhibiting “Strange behaviour” over the past week, reports The Mirror.

He is an immigrant from Africa but has been living legally in Ireland for about 15 years.

He was reportedly staying at the hostel until a few days before the attack.

However, gardaí believes that the victim was around 50 years old and the attacker did not know each other at all.

A source said: “It’s hard to know what the motive was at the moment. There are various things being followed up on as part of the investigation but it is being treated as a random attack at the moment anyway,” reports The Mirror.

Gardai are asking for witnesses to the incident.

A spokesman said: “Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them,” reports The Mirror.
