GardaĆ are carrying out an investigation into a major fight involving several GAA fans that erupted at a petrol station over the weekend, reports The Mirror.
Supporters from Armagh and Donegal were involved in a violent altercation shortly after the Ulster final, which saw Donegal narrowly win by a single point.
Footage shared online captures chaotic scenes as fans from both counties engage in a fistfight inside the shop, with other patrons forced to step aside, reports The Mirror.
At one point in the video, a stack of cans is knocked over after someone is struck, and further damage to the premises is also visible.
GardaĆ responded to a call at the station on Saturday night but found no crowd present when they arrived.
A Garda spokesperson said: “GardaĆ received a report of a Public Order incident involving a large group of people outside a premises at Coolshannagh, Monaghan, at approximately 10:15pm on 10th May, 2025. On arrival, there was no group at the scene. No arrests were made. Enquiries ongoing,” reports The Mirror.
Earlier that day, GardaĆ also had to step in during a pitch-side brawl that broke out after the game, involving players from both teams.
Following Donegalās 2-23 to 0-28 win, Jim McGuinness commented on the confrontation on the field: āI donāt have a perspective on that. Itās not nice to see. It shouldnāt happen. I was giving my daughter a hug at the time. I didnāt see what happened, but it shouldnāt be in the game,ā reports The Mirror.
Officials from the GAA are expected to examine footage of the clash, with disciplinary action, including suspensions, potentially being considered. The melee occurred as fans flooded onto the pitch after the final whistle.
