Gardai have deployed a 20-strong special operations team to check Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) claims.
The sizeable Garda contingent is tasked with chasing claimants to ensure they close their claims if they have returned to work.
The crack team is using data analytics and other sources to check the forms and carry out their socially conscious mission.
Meanwhile, the Government keeps collecting the ‘interim’ Universal Social Charge (USC) tax, introduced on a ‘temporary’ basis a decade ago this year.
