Gardaí are to setup a major campaign this coming June Bank Holiday weekend.
In a move backed by the RSA, Gardai are expected to set up checkpoints across the country this weekend.
It is understood the campaign is being setup as June Bank Holiday has seen 12 people killed and 54 people seriously injured in the past five years.
Gardaí and the RSA say the campaign is being setup to target those who drive under the influence.
It is believed that Gardaí are specifically targeting those who drive under the influence of drugs after the number of cases has risen by 15% within the first four months of this year.
