The US state of Missouri could become the first abortion free state since 1973 as the state’s last remaining abortion is set to close.
In a what has been described as landmark by pro-life activists, the State will not have functioning legal abortion clinic after Planned Parenthood failed to renew its licence in St. Louis.
According to FOX News, Missouri will become the first State without a functioning abortion clinic since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973, if a licence is not renewed by May 31st.
It is understood the failure to renew the licence comes after State officials are investigating “a large number of possible deficiencies” at the clinic.
FOX News say as many as nine incidents of serious emergencies, most common being hemorrhaging have been reported at the clinic and are under investigation.
The latest developments also come as the state recently passed new laws banning almost all abortions beyond eight weeks of pregnancy.
