Gardai use new powers to arrest a number of people over the Easter weekend because they wouldn’t do what they were told

Make no mistake, the civil liberties of the Irish public are somewhat limited until May 5th at best with gardai given massive new powers.

Gardai say that they were forced to use their new lockdown powers over the Easter bank holiday weekend after people wouldn’t go home upon orders.

It’s understood that a number of people were told to go home but refused to do so and gardai say that they were left with no option other than to arrest the people and bring them to garda stations.

The DPP is not going to issue proceedings however so the people will see no legal ramifications for disobeying lockdown measures.
