Gardai are today warning of ‘phishing’ scams currently doing the rounds, whereby people receive text messages directing them to log on to social welfare or other official sites.
In reality, these are fake sites that have been constructed to look exactly like the sites they purport to represent. People are asked to enter sensitive data like banking details, which leads to financial loss.
Anyone who thinks they might have entered their details into these sites is advised to contact their bank without delay.
