Gardaí have yet to identify the three men who were killed when their car burst into flames  in Dungarvan yesterday.

The men’s car collided with a people carrier carrying two adults and four children yesterday at approximately 10am.

The accident occurred on the N72 Dungarvan-Lismore road between the junctions with the N25 and the R672.

The six occupants of the people carrier  were airlifted to Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Waterford. Two are believed to be in a critical condition.

The bodies of the men who died were removed to University Hospital Waterford and are undergoing postmortem examinations.

A full examination of the deceased’s car has been delayed  due to the extent of the carnage, gardaí confirmed.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, who may have travelled this route yesterday to assist with their investigation, to contact Dungarvan Garda Station (058-48600) or any Garda station.
