George NKencho’s family demand public inquiry into his death on his first anniversary

The family of George Nkencho who was shot dead by an armed Garda last year reiterated their call for a public inquiry into the death.

George Nkencho was shot dead by a member of the Garda Armed Support Unit outside his home on Manorsfield Drive in Clonee, Dublin on December 30, 2020.

Tonight, family and friends will attend a vigil outside Blanchardstown Garda Station to celebrate the anniversary.

In a statement, the family said the past year has been a disaster since the 27-yr-old was shot dead.

That said that they were disappointed that the investigation by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman’s Commission was still ongoing a year later and called for a public inquiry to start immediately.
