German police have confirmed that they have arrested a Syrian migrant responsible for a stabbing attack that wounded three people on a train in the country on Saturday.
The 27-year-old Syrian man was arrested after the attack which is believed to have happened when the ICE train was travelling past Neumarkt, between Regensburg and Nuremberg.
The train was stopped near Seubersdorf and Police arrested the male suspect according to German state-owned media outlet Deutsche Welle.
Bild reports that understands the suspect is a Syrian named Abdalrahman A. who last lived in Passau, a German city on the Austrian border. He allegedly came to Germany in 2014 and had been granted refugee status.
