Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD said that the Taoiseach must act to hold the Garda Commissioner to account.
In calling for the Commissioner to go, Teachta Adams TD said;
“The Taoiseach and the Minster for Justice persist in refusing to hold the Garda Commissioner to account. There are numerous examples of this and there is no rational explanation of their refusal to seek the commissioner’s resignation.
“The majority of parties in Leinster House now want the commissioner to go.
“Apart from the latest controversy over the presentation to the Public Accounts Committee, I remain very concerned about the refusal of the Taoiseach to act on the detailed information I gave him 18 months ago about the killing of Garda Tony Golden and other issues arising from that dreadful event.
“The Taoiseach needs to act and the Commissioner needs to go. The Taoiseach needs to go with her.”
