Get ready, kids! Patrick Kielty says he’s ready for his first Late Late Toy Show

Patrick Kielty has fronted The Late Late Show since returning to screens in September, with the Co Down host attracting an average of 830,000 viewers in his first show, reports The Mirror.

In October, RTÉ urged viewers to speak “positive” about the organization of the nightly chat show in Kiel, despite a drop in viewership that month.

Two weeks ago when information about the program was released; Blindboy, starring Alastair Campbell and author Dr Caitriona O’Sullivan, it was revealed that around 6,000 viewers left the show.

During the entire duration of the RTÉ Player program, which ran for 1:15:58 (75 minutes) without commercials, Patrick Kielty spent exactly 42 minutes and 44 seconds on interviews, excluding walkthroughs and presentations.

In a statement to the Irish Mirror, an RTÉ spokesperson explained that RTÉ has statutory restrictions on advertising. These limits are:

  • Advertisements can cover up to 10 percent of broadcast hours
  • Television – maximum 7.5 minutes per watch, offset by lower levels elsewhere
  • A maximum of 15 minutes in any two-hour period to ensure smoothness and flexibility of the program
