A no-deal Brexit is looking increasingly likely as newly elected British Prime Minister Boris Johnson appears sincere that he’ll face down the European dictators that are trying to force his hand.
For his part the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said it would be prudent to step up no-deal Brexit preparations.
In case of a no-deal Brexit the Irish border will become an external EU frontier meaning that Brussels will insist on a hard border being enforced.
Meanwhile, a thousand police officers from England and Scotland are preparing for a hard border in Ireland as an auxiliary force to the PSNI will be needed in the case of such a scenario.
EU leaders however, have completely ruled out any new negotiations or reopening of talks.
