While advocating austerity for the working class, politicians themselves keep feeding off a seemingly bottomless trough made out of magic taxpayer money.
The Irish Mirror has revealed that TDs and Senators have gleefully signed an overtime payment scheme worth €36,000 for political ‘assistants.
Over €3.5m has so far been paid to 237 staff hired since 2016. It is understood that one person racked up €36,650 in overtime, more than the ‘average’ wage for most people.
