After a day of very mild temperatures of between 11-12C and overnight stormy conditions that have left nearly two thousand households dark, a cold snap is set to grip the country today. Met Eireann say that temperatures are set to dip by as much as 10 degrees in comparison to yesterday.
The thermometer will sway between 3 and 7C throughout the day today, and there will be wintry showers affecting the north and west of the country, with the possibility of some snowfall mainly in the north and west.
Windy conditions will also persist today.
The outlook for next week is pretty similar, unsettled wet and windy weather alternating with cold periods.
