Ghana offers black Americans opportunity to return to Africa if they feel unwelcome in US

Black Americans who feel oppressed by the alleged “systemic racism” of the United States and labour under the weight of a chip on their shoulder against white people need suffer no more as Ghana has said they are welcome to settle in the country.

The West African nation’s Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Barbara Oteng-Gyasi invited African Americans to “re-settle in Ghana if they feel unwanted” in the United States during a memorial and wreath-laying ceremony in honour of home invading, drug addict George Floyd.

There have been many links between African Americans and Ghana in recent decades stemming back to the civil rights era and in 2019 the Ghanaian government launched a new initiative to attract black American to settle in their country in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the first trans-Atlantic slave shit setting sail.

So far, the initiative dubbed “Beyond the Return” has attracted some African American tourist to the country and a small number who have settled permanently.
