Accused child sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell was denied her request to be transferred from solitary confinement to the general population of her prison, CNBC reports.

The British socialite is being held without bail in a New York prison since she was arrested for her connection to deceased paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. She stands accused of helping Epstein recruit, groom, and traffic underage girls for sexual exploitation to elite clients as well as participating in abuse herself.

Her defense lawyers protested about the conditions the heiress is being held in, detailing 24 hour close observation from CCTV, guards, and psychologists. Notes on her every activity are made, including conversations with her legal team. It is understood that the strict security is enforced due to the suspicious death of her co-accused, Epstein, who supposedly took his own life in the same prison before his trial.

A Manhattan judge asserted that Maxwell will remain in her current conditions, and also denied her request to disclose the identities of three women accusing her of abuse when they were underage. The world’s media eagerly awaits the trial of Maxwell, whose links to wealthy and powerful men on both sides of the Atlantic have led many to wonder who will be implicated in Epstein’s international paedophile ring.
