A High Court case involving a little child who was allegedly viciously assaulted and bitten by a collie dog on a farm in Limerick has been resolved for €65,000, reports Breaking News.
Brazilian Alice Candido da Costa was reportedly attacked by a brown and white collie when she was staying at a residence on the farm.
According to the High Court, the 3-yr-old girl’s face was bitten by a terrible dog and has scars, albeit they have gradually healed, reports Breaking News.
The mother of the little girl, who was in the kitchen cooking, heard her cry and discovered that she was heavily bleeding.
Through her mother Emanuelle Dos Santos Candido, Brazilian Alice Candido Da Costa filed a lawsuit against Seamus and Alice Noonan of Ballyduhig Co., Limerick, the owners of the dog and property, for the July 17, 2022, assault on their Ballyduhig farm, reports Breaking News.
The little girl and her parents resided in a home on the property in Ballyduhig at the time of the attack.
The small girl was allegedly playing with another child in the house’s yard at approximately noon on July 17, 2022, when the brown and white collie dog attacked her without warning, reports Breaking News.
After being brought to University Hospital Limerick’s emergency room, the little child’s jaw was discovered to be fractured.
Although the cuts were cleansed and sutured, she needed surgery to repair the fractured jaw and spent five days in the hospital.
Two months later, the metal work in her jaw was taken out, and the family relocated back to Brazil. She also reportedly required dental therapy for dental sequelae, reports Breaking News.
Alice had many well-healed wounds on her cheekbones, chin, and chest from the assault, according to a medical checkup conducted in November of last year. She also now has fear around dogs.
During the proceedings, it was alleged that the area was not hazard-free and that the dog was not properly watched or controlled, with the result that it was permitted to roam freely, reports Breaking News.
Additionally, it was stated that the residence on the property had failed to alert inhabitants or guests to the existence of a potentially deadly dog.
Ms. Justice Jackson, who approved the settlement, stated that the mother must have had a terrible scare and that it was quite upsetting for them, reports Breaking News.
