A five-year-old girl is lucky to be alive after her father jumped out in front of an oncoming train in New York.
According to The New York Times, the little girl named as Ferni Balbuena survived the terrifying incident with a few cuts and bruises after her father Fernando Balbuena-Flores died instantly.
The incident which left onlookers in deep shock occurred in the Bronx at approximately 8am on Monday.
It is believed that Ferni only survived after she fell flat between the tracks and stayed completely still.
The New York Times reports that the distraught girl was then rescued by two men who told her to crawl like a puppy towards them.
Ferni was later reunited with her mother at a nearby hospital where she remains in stable condition following the incident.
It is not yet known why Mr Balbuena-Flores jumped in front of the train, but authorities say they are currently investigating the incident.
