Barry Andrews, former Fianna Fail minister and CEO of charity GOAL, has stepped down from this latter post. He had announced his intention to do last August.
GOAL is the subject of an investigation in the US over allegations of bribery in Syria.
Last August, the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs withheld €3m in funding over these allegations.
Mr Andrews served as a minister of state for children and youth affairs in government from 2008 to 2011.
