There was some good news for tenants as the Dail voted in favour of a Bill that has called for an immediate rent freeze.
The Bill which was submitted by Sinn Féin was passed by 83 to 36 votes this afternoon.
It is understood the new legislation would see a rent freeze for three years and would call for tax rebate for tenants.
The Bill is now expected to be reviewed before it is passed through the Seanad.
