A price war between supermarkets has broken out at the start of the new year, reports Independent.
Lidl, a popular discount supermarket, has announced price cuts of up to 35% on over 100 items, including fresh food, frozen favourites, cupboard staples, bakery treats, and home essentials.
This comes a day after their rival discount supermarket Aldi announced price cuts of up to 23%, reports Independent.
Aldi claims that the cost of a typical trolley bought by a family will now drop from €121 to €106.
Lidl has now followed suit with its own price-cut announcements a day later, reports Independent.
