A new committee set up to deal with the rampant housing crisis in Ireland has made a series of recommendations, including fast-tracking the construction of 50,000 new social housing units over the next 48 months.
A full report on the matter will be published later today. It is understood that the committee has made a total of 23 priority recommendations, which include linking rent reviews to the consumer price index, and enabling housing associations to puchase a rental property from distressed homeowners.
It has also been suggested that a moratorium on evictions may also be introduced.
