There was good news for parents of infants as the Government have confirmed they will introduce a second free year for preschool children from September this year.
The news comes as Taoiseach Enda Kenny revealed that he has held a number of meetings with the vast majority of his senior ministers to outline their departmental priorities for the coming year ahead.
It is understood the move was introduced as part of the Department of Education’s plans to reduce pupil-teacher ratios for infants from September 2017, when they hope to have a new admissions system in place by the start of the 2017/18 school year.
