The Government are considering plans to introduce fines to tackle outdoor drinking.
It is understood that the Government will give Gardai the powers to issue on the spot fines for those drinking outside pubs selling takeaway drinks.
The decision comes after footage appeared on social media showing groups gathering outside pubs in Cork and Dublin.
Although no official decision has been made it is expected that the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly will introduce the measures in the coming days.
