The Irish Government is facing a considerable backlash after it emerged that the Minister for Transport might pander to airlines’ request to issue credit notes instead of refunds.
Current legislation regarding flight cancellations states that passengers are entitled to a full refund, a rerouting at the earliest opportunity, or a rerouting at a later date, but both Ryanair and Aer Lingus are now lobbying hard to be allowed to issue vouchers, blatantly disregarding current law.
Minister for Transport Shane Ross is said to be ‘considering’ this proposal.
