The decent people of Achill have voiced their concerns to the for several weeks over the proposed Achill Head Hotel in Mayo being used as a migrant centre..
In major protests over the last number of weeks, Achill residents said that the proposed asylum centre has poor conditions for migrants and it wouldn’t be fair on them placing them there.
The hotel is earmarked to ‘temporarily’ house thirteen migrants, with plans to bring in an additional 38 migrants over the coming weeks.
Over the last three days there’s been conflicting reports as to whether the migrant centre was going ahead or not – but over the past 24 hours government sources say that they plan on going ahead with the migrant centre in Achill. Effectively they’re not listening to the good people of Achill and their concerns but are barging ahead with the migrant centre whether the conditions are good or not.
