The Minister for Health Leo Varadkar is set to announce some changes to the inner workings of the medical card scheme.
The changes are believed to center around eligibility criteria and also the circumstances under which discretionary cards are issued.
The patient’s income will still be a major factor, but certain medical conditions and personal circumstances will also play a role in the decision process.
