Government to reduce PUP by €50 a week from September




The Government are reportedly set to approve proposals that will see see the Pandemic Unemployment Payment being cut by €50 a week.

According to RTE News, the Cabinet will push ahead with the phasing out of the payment in September with the possibility of further cuts in November and February next year.

It it also expected that students will be taken off the payment scheme once they return to third level education, whilst the application process for the payment will be closed in July.

The proposals are expected to be approved by cabinet later today and will most likely be announced as part of the Government’s economic recovery plan.
