A lot more garda patrols will be seen across the country over the next four weeks so people need to be on the guard as to where they’re going and what they’re doing.
Gardai is to spend up to €7m in new stab vests to protect patrolling officers.
It is understood that 7,000 vests will be purchased and deployed in the coming months.
Gardai said that the measure addresses an increasing number of attacks involving bladed weapons over the last three years.
