Martin threatens that Level 4 or even Level 5 may still have to be implemented across the country

Micheal Martin practically warned that the country needs to be good boys and girls if we want to avoid another lockdown.

Bascially no one wants another lockdown but the numbers over the coming weeks will dictate whether the new Level 3 restrictions will be increased to Level 4 or possibly Level 5, said Martin.

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that we as a country must act now in order to avoid further Covid-19 restrictions.

Speaking this evening the Taoiseach said that further restrictions would lead to hundreds of thousands of jobs losses and he urged the public to do what they can in order to stem the spread of the virus.

Martin’s comments come as the Government confirmed that the country will move to Level 3 restrictions from midnight on Tuesday.

The Taoiseach said the prospect of moving to levels 4 and 5 will have a disastrous effect on the economy as there would be wide spread job losses and any further restrictions would also have a severe impact on vital health services.

Although the Taoiseach said that the large majority of the public have been compliant with current restrictions, he said that there was no doubt that some people have taken a lax attitude in recent weeks.

He added that there will be many turns in the road ahead for all of us, but urged everyone to stay the course as its ultimately about saving lives and livelihoods.
