Government unveils ‘Be Winter Ready’ campaign

Be mindful, plan, and prepare.

These are some of the main points that officials want us to keep in mind throughout the winter, reports FM 104.

Drivers are also being advised to ensure that their vehicles are prepared as the evenings grow longer and we fight stormier weather:

According to James Lawless, Minister of State for Roads, we must also carefully consider how we drive:

“Avoid those killer behaviours at the wheel. Put the phone away when you’re driving, don’t use excessive speed, wear your seatbelt, and it shouldn’t have to be even said anymore but please don’t use any intoxicants like alcohol when you’re about to get behind the wheel of a car,” reports FM 104.

So far this storm season, we have already seen the fury of Storm Ashley.

According to Met Eireann’s Eoin Sherlock, it’s uncertain if these storms will occur more frequently:

“The research indicates that we can expect more intense storms unfortunately, but maybe not as many as we’ve had. That’s the current research but I think we do need to do a little bit more work on that because we have a lot of stuff going on in the North Atlantic that changes the storms.” reports FM 104.
